Sifnos- in the footsteps of Cartier-Bresson

Posted on 10th November 2015

Springtime in Greece 6th-11th April 2016

If you're looking for a truely unique photographic experience and would like to re-trace the steps of the great photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson then our six day trip to the beautiful and magical island of Sifnos in the Aegean could be just the thing.

It was no accident that Cartier-Bresson was inspired by Sifnos to produce one of his most famous reportage images of all time, for this island in the Cyclades is filled with a timeless atmosphere, distinctive white architecture, narrow streets revealing secret surprises around every corner where highlights and shadows interlock with one another to produce remarkable geometric shapes to delight any photographer.

Our ‘in the footsteps’ tour will be based in the town of Anthousa and together we will discover the dozen or so not-to-be-missed remarkable locations scattered throughout this small and easily accessible island.
Peter Hendrie your guide led this tour for the first time alongside Charlie Waite, who has admired Cartier-Bresson’s style of photography for many years. In every location Peter will assist participants to identify the structures and compositional elements that Cartier-Bresson was so famous for.  The locations lend themselves to monochrome so well and Peter will be sharing his insights into the discipline needed for making successful black and white images.
