Cornwall is often thought of having one of the most beautiful coastlines in the British Isles. It is home to so many areas of outstanding natural beauty, including St Michael’s Mount at the extremely well known location of Marazion and Porthleven which is famous for its enormous waves which pound into the clock tower on the pier. Stunning views, miles of beaches and a great harbour full of brightly coloured boats. We are lucky to have these wonderful locations for this two day workshop.
On the Friday we will have full access to miles of sandy beach with sand dunes, different vantage points & piers to photograph from depending on the tide, and the famous causeway which becomes uncovered by the tide allowing us to venture over to the mount itself and enjoy the photography opportunities over there with the small quaint harbour, grounds around the mount and boats. We will arrive for sunrise to make the most of this location, enjoy the many photographic locations this beach has to offer us before meeting up for breakfast. After breakfast we will venture along the causeway to the mount and spend time together photographing the many opportunities (and for those who wish to climb the many steps up to the house and see the view back towards the mainland this is possible). We will meet back together at the harbour after a short lunch break and travel back across to the mainland by boat ready for those who would like to do sunset.
On the Saturday we explore Porthleven, we will have full access to all the harbour areas, able to get close to many different styles of boats, different vantage points & piers to photograph from depending on the tide, so many photography opportunities. We will arrive for sunrise to make the most of this location, enjoy the many photographic locations Porthleven has to offer us before breakfast. After breakfast we will head back out to another area of the harbour depending on the tide, we can look for detail in the images with the rocks so close by and enjoy a short lunch stop together. There will be time during the day to enjoy a look in some of the galleries for those who enjoying a bit of Cornish shopping! The workshop concludes at 4pm but for those who would like to do sunset I will be happy to be around as I live here! For others we will say our goodbyes before heading home.
Walking boots, waterproof boots with a good tread are essential, we will be working with our cameras around the water’s edge. Waterproof clothing might be required if the weather is looking unpredictable, and maybe something warm as it can be breezy on the coast.
This workshop is designed to appeal to all levels, to enjoy this amazing location and to capitalise on the ever-changing light whilst enjoying great Cornish Hospitality!!
