Spring Beauty at Borde Hill

£195

Deposit: £195.00

Our Workshop will be held at the beautiful Borde Hill Garden in Haywards Heath, West Sussex, just over an hour from London.  Set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with spectacular views over the Sussex Weald and the Ouse Valley, Borde Hill’s grounds extend to over 200 acres across the garden, woodland and parkland. The 17 acres of formal garden are designed in a series of outdoor ‘rooms’, each with its own distinctive character, colour and scent. From the exotic ‘Garden of Allah’ and the beautiful Azelea Ring, to the traditional Rose Garden and peaceful Italian Garden, Borde Hill is a treat for the senses. The historic Garden is constantly evolving with new plantings and designs to add to variety, colour and interest throughout the year.  Borde Hill has received numerous awards, including the Historic Houses Association ‘Garden of the Year’.

Springtime’s magnificent displays of early flowering magnolias, camellias, rhododendrons and azaleas are a sight to behold. Warren Wood and Stephanie’s Glade come alive in the spring with huge flowering rhododendrons overhanging carpets of bluebells and wood anemones. The woodland and parkland contain numerous rare and exotic trees, many of them ‘champions’, planted by Colonel Stephenson R Clarke who sponsored the great plant hunters to travel all over the world in the early 20th century.

Our day will begin with a welcome from Sue and Charlie, and a presentation from Sue about flower photography.  Topics covered will include using natural light, understanding colour theory, choosing the right background, and finding the composition, as well as some more advanced techniques such as multiple exposures.

This will be followed by practical sessions in the garden, where Sue and Charlie will help participants to put the theory into practice as they search for that perfect photograph!
