Established on the banks of the mighty Danube by the Celts, long before the arrival of the Romans, two settlements grew either side of the river. Buda to the west and Pest to the east. It wasn’t until 1873 that the two cities were unified to form the capital of Hungary, Budapest, and our destination for this brand new Light and Land tour.
Each side of the river has a unique geography. Buda is high, hilly and gives wonderful views across the Danube to the completely flat Pest. The locals say the best views of Pest are to be had...
