GILES STOKOE

After graduating with a degree in Psychology, Giles’ travels around the Sahara, North and West Africa prompted him to retrain as a photographer.

Since then his pictures have appeared in numerous books and magazines with two distinct strands: freestyle black and white for commissioned books, and colour photojournalistic work vein for travel magazine features and stock. More recently, Giles has moved away from the commercial sector, initially attracting an Arts Council grant for his creative work and then turning to teaching photography and eventually moving to France to give him more time to pursue his private projects.

The rewards that come from being able to help others express themselves using photography, and overcoming the self-imposed creative challenges that he throws in his own way keep Giles' interest in photography keen and fresh. For him, leading Light & Land tours is an ideal way to revisit some of his favorite photographic locations while helping clients overcome some of the technical and creative challenges these places often expose.
