A warm welcome to Corinne Stagen
8th November 2017
We are delighted to welcome Corinne Stagen to the Light and Land team as our Liaison Officer.
"I have been using cameras to capture life at a different angle for over thirty years. My early apprenticeships under master photographers throughout North America, Europe, and Australia provided me with a strong technical and creative foundation.
I have established a reputation for an energetic style that captures the authentic essence of my subjects. A former teacher and mother of two, my passion for children and family photography is reflected in both my studio and outdoor portraiture. My love of travel and photographing families on the road inspired my recent Pop-Up Portrait campaign traveling throughout the country capturing families on location. In January 2018, I will cross the border and return to Rancho la Puerta where I will lead photography workshops with guests of “the Ranch”. This magical spot in Mexico will undoubtedly inspire both me and my students to pause in the raw beauty of the land and mindfully approach our photography.
I have channeled my love of the outdoors into capturing moments in nature. My fine art landscapes represent my desire to educate others through my photography and to convey the importance of preservation of wide-open spaces for future generations.
Additionally, my work over the past three years with the Chicago Botanic Garden’s urban agricultural program, Windy City Harvest Youth Farm, has tapped into my love of helping at-risk teens and documenting their stories as they work the land. Seeds of Change is a personal project that captures the power of a small seed to impact the lives of young adults struggling in food deserts and poverty."
“I myself have always stood in awe of the camera. I recognize it for the instrument that it is, part Stradivarius, part scalpel.”
