This weekend has been put together to allow those starting out in photography to get to know their cameras better, to understand settings, and to gain knowledge into Lightroom, it is ideal for the beginner photographer, or those wishing to understand their camera to take a step forward and learn new skills, both in camera and the computer.

Being located in the very picturesque village of Porthleven, on the South Cornish coast, we join Carla at her hometown to get you started with your camera.  A harbour full of colourful boats, the iconic clock tower building which is often featured during the storms, the cliffs and the sea, makes this a perfect location to be based to get to know your camera.  Learning new photography skills both out on location around the harbour and in post processing with Adrian, this will allow you to refine your editing skills and learn about taking your photography further.

Day One will begin with Carla at 11am, meeting in Porthleven.  From here we start with introductions into photography, how Carla captures some of her amazing images and have a chat about our cameras before a short lunch break. Then back out for the afternoon to enjoy capturing scenes of Porthleven. Sunsets are at a later time of year during this period so we will be enjoying an early dinner together at Seadrift before heading out to capture the sunset. (Dinner cost not included in price) With a full day of image taking this will give you plenty to work with ready for the following day.

We will be staying at The Harbour Inn in Porthleven, ready for Day Two.

Day Two will start with a hearty breakfast at the hotel before moving to our base back at “Seadrift”, Carla’s award winning restaurant in the town, this will be our private location for the day. There, Adrian will work with you and the images you captured on Day One. You will learn how to use Lightroom’s amazing organizational tools to quickly and efficiently select and focus on the right images for editing. Then we will dive into Lightroom’s array of post processing tools, guiding you to make the most of your images.  While the course is based on Lightroom, Adrian can also show you some Photoshop tips and perhaps dip into the Google/Nik collection too!

You will be provided with a printed Lightroom manual to scribble on so that you can spend more time having fun with your images, rather than writing notes. If you do not have lightroom, download the free 30-day trial Lightroom demo just ahead of the workshop. Adrian is able to support Photoshop and Nik users too but Lightroom will be our main focus.  You will need to bring a computer (ideally a laptop) with you.

Lunch will be included in the cost on both days, with teas and coffees supplied on the afternoon breaks. One night’s accommodation including breakfast also included.  Should you require further nights accommodation this can be arranged. For those travelling from afar it may be that you wish to arrive the day before so you are refreshed and ready for the workshop or perhaps you would like to stay on and put the skills you have learned into practice!

The group size is limited to 10 places to ensure plenty of help and support.
