We are delighted to offer this brand-new tour led by Clive Minnitt and Phil Malpas to England’s “Wild West” the very “end of the land” at the south-west tip of Cornwall. Spectacular coastline, oriented in all four compass points, will allow us to use the entire day to make the most of the available lighting from dawn to dusk.

On the north coast is Godrevy Lighthouse at Godrevy Point, and of course, St. Ives which has inspired many local artists for decades. In the middle of the 20thcentury this sleepy fishing village was transformed into a thriving artist’s colony and the epicentre of the British Modernist Movement.

Cornwall’s “Wild West”

On the west coast, we will explore the beautiful coves at Sennen, Mullion and Porth Nanven as well as the famed “Crowns” engine houses at Botallack Tin Mines that cling precariously to the bottom of the cliffs.

In the south, we will visit St. Michael’s Mount and various points around the Lizard peninsula including the wonderfully picturesque Kynance Cove and Cadgewith. For our final compass point we will spend some time in the east facing village of Mousehole where the tiny harbour is surrounded by narrow streets and alleys lined with quintessential fishermen’s cottages.

Clive and Phil will construct an itinerary that will make sure we visit each location at the correct time of day to make the most of the available light.

As if the spectacular scenery at the western tip of the mainland UK didn’t offer enough inspiration we are delighted that for the first time we will be staying at the Artist Residence Penzance, which in 2016 was voted into the Sunday Times “Ultimate 100” British Hotels.

Tucked away in the old quarter of Penzance in a historic Georgian House, this is a fun & friendly boutique retreat with 21 bedrooms, perfectly located for discovering West Cornwall. Each room has been “individually designed, offering a range of accommodation from affordable ‘arty’ rooms with original artist murals to ‘Comfy Luxe’, designed in an eclectic style with touches of luxury”.

At the beginning of each day, Clive and Phil will advise you of their planned itinerary. On arrival at each location, they will give you a detailed description of the photographic opportunities on offer. You will have ample time to explore each location and Clive and Phil will be at your side to help you make the most of the beautiful scenery whatever the prevailing conditions. We will travel between locations in two comfortable 9-seater minibuses. A reasonable level of fitness will be needed to access some of the locations.
