In this modern digital age, we are used to capturing images everywhere we go and with all our digital devices, but how often do we show them to our friends and family?  Ok, there are on-line portals like Facebook and Instagram, but there is nothing quite like handing someone a book to flick through.  Photo books allow us to create a physical experience that is instant, hugely gratifying and doesn’t need a WiFi connection!

If you have attended any of the Light and Land tours, just imagine how nice it would be to have a book of each one.  Photo books also make great Christmas presents or celebrations of special events and are a wonderful way to share your portfolio of images.

Creating your own HD Photo book

Outline

Creating a book is not difficult, it takes some focused time and a little learning and that is what this workshop is all about.  During this one-day workshop we will show you how to use the software, help you to select, tweak and layout your images and upload your files.  Light and Land has partnered with Cannon HD Books and this workshop includes 1 free book that you will order at the end of the day.  You will receive your wonderful HD book within 7 days of the workshop.

Agenda

  • General introduction and review of the projects everyone has planned
  • A demonstration of the software and its features
  • A look at the image quality requirements
  • Download and install the software
  • Start creating your book!
  • One-to-one help and advice with updating and editing of images
  • Sharing our books for inspiration
  • Demos and one-to-one on editing and shuffling your pages
  • Checking and proofing the books
  • Uploading and ordering

Who Should Attend and what to bring

You don’t need any experience of making a book, you just need to bring your laptop and some images to work with.  If you have a lot of images, you don’t have to order the book on the day but its much more fun if you do!

You need to bring:

A laptop/computer (PC or Mac)

I suggest a minimum of 25 good quality images - selecting the images ahead of the workshop will give you more time for layout and tweaking

(Images need to be good enough quality for printing.  Generally, 240 dpi or higher at the size they will appear.  If you are exporting images for this project, use the sRGB colour space)

If you are not sure about the quality of your images, bring them along with your editing software and we will help you prepare them for use.

Location & Facilities

The day will be based at Calumet Photographic Ltd in London. 93-103 Drummond Street, London NW1 2HJ. Adrian will meet you at the entrance of Calumet at 9.30am and the workshop will finish at about 5.30pm.

The group size is limited to 10 places. Tea & coffee are provided.  There will be a break for lunch (lunch is not included) where you can choose to work through with your own packed lunch or take advantage of the local facilities.

Your tutor

Adrian Beasley has taught Photography, Photoshop and Lightroom workshops for over 15 years and has been involved with computers since school.  He has a very engaging and relaxed teaching style, ideal for beginners.  Adrian is also an Adobe Certified Expert.
