Exploring the North East Coast from Dawn until Dusk, England

During this special weekend workshop the group will work their way along the coast and will cover as much ground as possible starting with the iconic Bamburgh Castle at dawn on the Saturday morning and working with the tides, taking in Holy Island, Dunstanburgh Castle and ending at Staitehs for sunset. These locations have yielded some of the most iconic images in recent times, the unpredictable north sea and weather fronts can make for dramatic skies and crashing seas adding mood and intensity to your photographs, you won’t go away disappointed.

The weekend will begin on Friday evening where the group will gather at the hotel to discuss what you want to get out of the weekend and answer any questions you may have before having dinner together.

Saturday will see a full day of shooting from dawn to dusk and possibly into the night - if it’s clear there may be the opportunity to do a little astrophotography too.  The group will head to Bamburgh Castle, an icon of the North East of England for their first stop of the day.  Bamburgh dates back to the Anglo-Saxons with one chronicler citing Bamburgh as probably the most important place in all of England. The group will then move on to Holy Island, recently seen on Robson Green's Tales from Northumberland.  The island is cut off twice a day from the rest of the world by fast-moving tides. The magnificent Dunstanburgh Castle on a remote headland will be the next stop before the group settles for sunset at Staitehs.

The group will see dawn come up on the Sunday morning before wrapping the workshop up around lunchtime.  If there’s time Paul will also be holding an image critique session over the weekend too, so come prepared with a few images to show

Your guide for this tour will be Light and Land leader Paul Sanders.  He will also be supported by Nathan Wake from Fujifilm, who will be bringing along the GFX Series camera for all group members to try if they wish.  Nathan will be on hand to guide you around the GFX series, from helping with any specific technical difficulties or advising you on the full range of lenses and accessories available.
