Getting Started - Beginners Photography Workshop in Bath

If you’re new to photography and want to learn how to get the best out of your kit or simply want a bit of a refresher this one-day Beginners photography workshop in Bath is for you. You will learn how to improve your composition, discover how to perfect your exposures and understand how to use light.

Based in the beautiful city of Bath your expert tutors, Sam and Ben, will be on hand to give you no-nonsense, jargon free advice that will provide you with the skills and confidence to take control of your camera and create wonderful images.

We will be based in the centre of Bath, just a few steps from some fantastic architecture and scenery. Our aim is to empower you as an aspiring photographer to grow your confidence and add various techniques to not only create great images on the day but also back in your own locations. There will be a mix of classroom theory sessions and practical shooting on location, all of which are designed to explain, demonstrate and explore the technical aspects of image making and how to control them when out with your camera.

We aim to cover the following topics on the day:

- The Exposure Triangle: You will learn about the relationship between aperture, shutter speed and ISO and how they control the way your photos look.

- Getting Off Manual: With a better understanding of the ‘Exposure Triangle’ you can then start to explore more creative ways to take control of your final image. You will learn how to master your camera’s settings in manual mode, so you have complete control over the final output.

- Composition: Discover how to create strong and compelling compositions. We will discuss how to position elements in the frame for maximum impact.

- Understand light: Get to grips with various forms of light and how it can influence how your images look.

- Basic Editing: You will see how to import your photos into Lightroom and make basic adjustments to the RAW file to fully realise the potential of the file into the final image.

This workshop is ideal for any aspiring photographer who either wants to take control of their image making process, or who is currently struggling with any of the above topics. Whatever age or experience this will be a supportive day to build your skill set and furnish you with the knowledge and technical skills to create stronger images.

This workshop will start at 9.30am at The Makery, and will finish at 4.30.pm.
