A person could spend the rest of their life exploring North Yorkshire and still be surprised and delighted during every outing. This late Summer photography tour and workshop focuses on the North York Moors, the surrounding hills and the stunning coastline that includes Whitby, Sandsend and Flamborough Head.

We will spend as much time in the field as possible photographing the varied landscapes; from the famous Roseberry Topping to the heather covered moors with its beautiful lone trees standing proudly as perfect subjects. The heather blooms in August and early September with a stunning colour that bursts into life under the warm summer sun.

Adam Karnacz who grew up in the moors of North Yorkshire will be your guide on this tour. Thanks to his YouTube channel, First Man Photography, Adam now shares his experience and love of the craft with tens of thousands of people each Sunday with his landscape photography ‘vlogs’.

North Yorkshire Photography Tour - Hills, Heather and the Yorkshire Coast Landscape Photography

A good level of fitness and agility will be required but the moderate effort is rewarded with some stunning views. The warm summer days allows us to truly immerse ourselves in the landscape spending some time exploring the area to gain a deeper understanding of our surroundings. This feeling can then be easily translated into our photographs to assist in telling the story of this fantastic and varied landscape.

There are opportunities for photography from dusk until dawn and we will look to maximise our use of the light.

For Dawn we will be in position for at least two of the mornings, weather permitting, before returning to the hotel for breakfast after sunrise. This is entirely optional. After breakfast we will head out again for the day until after sunset before enjoying a well earned evening meal.

The plan will be to head out each day with a mixture of hikes in the hills and short drives to some stunning locations. Ascents will be no more than 350m but will be over uneven ground that requires a good level of fitness and agility.

Although we can still expect September to be warm, the North York Moors can often provide varied weather. We will remain flexible and discuss plans for each day the evening before so we explore areas fit for the conditions.

After dinner we will retire to the lounge/bar where we can sit together, post-process our images and share stories of the day. This will be completely informal and voluntary but is a good chance for critique and to brush up on your editing skills. It is a fun, safe and supportive environment in which to share you work and is a good way to consolidate learning and carry it into the next day.

Adam Karnacz will guide you on this tour. Having grown up in the moors of North Yorkshire, his love for the outdoors and exploring the wilderness were ingrained from an early age. Adam says, “To this day, hills and mountains hold a special place in my heart and I aim to capture these landscapes and tell their story for all to see.”

Thanks to his YouTube channel, ‘First Man Photography’, Adam now shares his experience and love of the craft with tens of thousands of people each Sunday with his landscape photography ‘vlogs’. His films entertain and educate and have inspired people all over the world to get out and make their next picture.
