This short notice tour has been created to capitalise on the ongoing eruption of Fagradalsfjall Volcano in the South West of Iceland. We will have access to view the eruption from multiple viewpoints. Our aim will be to walk and explore as many options as possible with views from mountains down to the crater and depending on the lava flows, walking right up to the lava itself.

We will be based in the city of Reykjavik for this tour. From here we will have a short drive out to the volcano and our aim will be to spend the best times of the day for light at the volcano site.  Periods of lower light around sunrise and sunset and into the darkness will be perfect to achieve a balance between the ambient light levels and the light of the lava in front of us. There is a good chance we will be able to photograph the northern lights over the volcano at night also.

If the weather and lava conditions cooperate we may use one of the days to head further afield to photograph some coastal locations, mountains and/or waterfalls

This is a rare opportunity to observe nature at its rawest and it will be experienced with a very small group of only six participants for more individual attention and a more intimate experience. Photographing lava and an erupting volcano is an incredible experience and not something that is available as close as this very often.

Please note- A good level of fitness will be required as we will be spending long periods on our feet and some small mountain walks will be needed to get into different positions. Any walking should be kept to under one hour to get into position.

A drone is a wonderful way to achieve different views of the lava and the erupting crater itself. Please feel free to bring a drone along if you have one.

For tours outside of the UK, we will select a recommended flight which will depart from a London airport to the destination. In most cases (unless stated otherwise), the tour leaders will greet you at the destination airport from this flight and return you to the airport at the end of the tour.

Please DO NOT book your flights until advised to do so by the office. Tours have to become viable before we select the recommended flight.

Once a tour has enough bookings to make it viable, you will receive an email to alert you that the recommended flights have been uploaded to your client area on the website.

You are welcome to make alternative travel arrangements. If doing so, please ensure you are at the destination airport for the arrival time of the recommended flight to ensure you can take the transfer to the hotel. Alternatively you can arrange your own transfers and meet the group at the hotel on the first night.
