Kyrgyzstan is a country still in transition from its dominance by the former Soviet Union, it is rich with landscape, cultural and social opportunities to enable us to make incredible images on this photographic adventure.

Our Kyrgyzstan photography tour will immerse you in every way possible, we will be driving through abandoned checkpoints, over mountain passes at 3800m high, visiting deserted towns and seeing the most beautiful landscapes. The country has mountain peaks reaching over 7000 metres and between these towering masses are the flat plains punctuated with small villages and bustling markets.

After travelling to the capital Bishkek, our Kyrgyzstan photography tour and adventure starts straight away with a stopover at the coal market. You will experience first hand the bartering lifestyle of the locals as you collect and buy coal. You will notice immediately the smell of the coals fires burning throughout this bustling capital city.

Kyrgyzstan Photography Tour - Kyrgyzstan Landscape Photography

Kyrgyzstan is a country still in transition from its dominance by the former Soviet Union, it is rich with landscape, cultural and social opportunities to enable us to make incredible images on this photographic adventure.

From coal to culture, the National Ballet next to our hotel have allowed us access to their afternoon training sessions. After this we walk through the streets of Bishkek, taking in the soviet era architecture and Lenin Statue - one of many in Kyrgyzstan and very impressive.

Our Kyrgyzstan photography tour will immerse you in every way possible, we will be driving through abandoned checkpoints, over mountain passes at 3800m high, visiting deserted towns and seeing the most beautiful landscapes. You’ll have the opportunity to witness the incredible game of Kok Boru - a type of polo played on horse back but with either a goatskin or a wolfskin as the ball.

In Karakoi we will visit the animal market, which is huge and has so many opportunities for great photography you will beg for more time. We’ll drag you away to the shores of Lake IssyKul, the second highest lake in the world, despite the low temperatures it never freezes.

The photography tour will finish with a journey into neighbouring Kazakstan, over more mountains, stopping to visit local shepherds and ancient Petroglyph sites.

The accommodation on this tour will also be part of the experience, from small family run hotels and guest houses, to a Soviet sanatorium. This trip will excite and inspire you in every way and leave you not only with some incredible memories of the wonderful people and great food, but with some unique images that few other people will have had the opportunity to create.

The tour will start at Bishkek and end in Almaty so pick ups will be arranged from these airports.

Schedule

For tours outside of the UK, we will select a recommended flight which will depart from a London airport to the destination. In most cases (unless stated otherwise), the tour leaders will greet you at the destination airport from this flight and return you to the airport at the end of the tour.

Please DO NOT book your flights until advised to do so by the office. Tours have to become viable before we select the recommended flight.

Once a tour has enough bookings to make it viable, you will receive an email to alert you that the recommended flights have been uploaded to your client area on the website.

You are welcome to make alternative travel arrangements. If doing so, please ensure you are at the destination airport for the arrival time of the recommended flight to ensure you can take the transfer to the hotel. Alternatively you can arrange your own transfers and meet the group at the hotel on the first night.
