Our Birmingham photography workshop 'Midday to Dusk' with Verity Milligan will take place in October 2022. Although Birmingham’s skyline has been much maligned over the years, this workshop aims to demonstrate that there are many photogenic areas to the city. Birmingham is a city of juxtapositions, and your workshop tutor has spent the best part of a decade getting to know Birmingham and documenting its evolution into the modern European metropolis it is today. Verity’s intricate knowledge of the City means that you will get a unique insight into Birmingham’s urban sprawl, from modern, abstract architecture to the serenity of the Grand Union Canal.

This workshop will take place during afternoon to dusk, ensuring many different opportunities to capture the city in various states.

Metropolis Birmingham Photography Workshop - Midday to Dusk

Birmingham Photography Workshop - Birmingham Sunset & Dusk Photography

Although Birmingham’s skyline has been much maligned over the years, this workshop aims to demonstrate that there are many photogenic areas to the city. Birmingham is a city of juxtapositions, and your workshop tutor has spent the best part of a decade getting to know Birmingham and documenting its evolution into the modern European metropolis it is today. Verity’s intricate knowledge of the City means that you will get a unique insight into Birmingham’s urban sprawl, from modern, abstract architecture to the serenity of the Grand Union Canal.

Starting at midday, we’ll explore parts of Birmingham that you might never have considered photographing before, from the serenity of the Gas Street Basin to the grandeur of the Library of Birmingham situated in the newly redeveloped Centenary Square. There will be plenty of opportunities to photograph the juxtaposing architecture as well as trying your hand at more creative endeavours such as long exposures of passing trams or capturing abstract reflections in the city’s numerous water features. Not only will Verity take you to Birmingham’s hidden gems, she’ll also show you how to get the best out of them.

This workshop will start at 12pm and finish at around 7pm.

Verity was excellent and knew all the places to get some interesting shots. Not really any ‘tuition’ but it was available when needed
