Our Netherlands photography tour in November 2021 will be led by Light and Land Founder Sue Bishop who specialises in flower and landscape photography. Autumn in the Netherlands is a well kept secret. Whilst tourists flock to the tulips in the spring, autumn in the Netherlands is something special. Rising out of the flat lands, woodlands and forests create impressive contrast in this otherwise ordered and low landscape.

Sue will be joined by photographer Charlotte Bellamy who has been photographing these woodlands for over seven years. No matter what the weather is, Charlotte finds there are unique opportunities to capture the beauty, colour and contrasts. Both she and Sue will encourage participants to try creating ICM and double exposure images, as well as traditional landscape work. You can see more of Charlotte's work here.

Netherlands Photography Tour in Autumn

Netherlands Photography Tour - Netherlands Landscape Photography

Autumn in the Netherlands is a well kept secret. Whilst tourists flock to the tulips in the spring, autumn in the Netherlands is something special. Rising out of the flat lands, woodlands and forests create impressive contrast in this otherwise ordered and low landscape.

The colours of autumn present a vista of vibrant leaves amongst strong trunks just waiting to be captured by a camera. In the east of the Netherlands is one unique woodland - Speulderbos - where, due to woodland management the only trees remaining in parts of this area are gnarled and bent, leading to its nickname "the Dancing Trees”, and offering unique woodland photography opportunities. Much of the woodland of the Netherlands has been managed and as such, you find beautiful woodland rides and pathways between towering ancient trees. Explore "The Old Kings Road" on the way to a hidden pancake house in the woods, and the beautiful castle estate of Ampsen. Remember to watch behind you for cyclists as you photograph a beautiful curved bike path disappearing through the trees and into the mist. Beech, birch, oak, chestnut and willow are just a few of the tree species we shall see.

Your hotel is the Stadhotel Doesburg on the side of the Ijssel river in this beautiful old trade town of cobbled streets and old architecture.

This itinerary has been put together for us by Charlotte Bellamy, a very accomplished photographer who lives in Holland, and will accompany Sue on the tour. Charlotte has lived in The Netherlands for 7 years. She is an experienced landscape and abstract photographer and runs her own photography business in Holland. Charlotte has been photographing these woodlands for over seven years, and no matter what the weather is, she finds there are unique opportunities to capture the beauty, colour and contrasts.  Both she and Sue will encourage participants to try creating ICM and double exposure images, as well as traditional landscape work. You can see more of Charlotte's work here.

For tours outside of the UK, we will select a recommended flight which will depart from a London airport to the destination. In most cases (unless stated otherwise), the tour leaders will greet you at the destination airport from this flight and return you to the airport at the end of the tour.

Please DO NOT book your flights until advised to do so by the office. Tours have to become viable before we select the recommended flight.

Once a tour has enough bookings to make it viable, you will receive an email to alert you that the recommended flights have been uploaded to your client area on the website.

You are welcome to make alternative travel arrangements. If doing so, please ensure you are at the destination airport for the arrival time of the recommended flight to ensure you can take the transfer to the hotel. Alternatively you can arrange your own transfers and meet the group at the hotel on the first night.
