Our home for this Scotland photography tour - the Western Isles is the wonderful Seahorse II, a small vessel capable of reaching so many locations along the fabulous West Coast of Scotland. This is a one of a kind way to see and photograph the most photogenic locations of the Western Isles of Scotland - the islands of Eigg, Rum, Skye, The Outer Hebrides and the incredible world heritage site at St Kilda.

We will depart and return from Oban keeping our itinerary flexible to capitalise on good weather to reach each island in the best conditions. Eigg’s beaches provide incredible foregrounds with views to the mountains of Rum, providing a wonderful backdrop. Using our onboard tender/dinghy, we will be able to land at beaches along these islands. Skye provides a magnitude of options including Elgol, Neist Point and many more.

From Skye we will aim to explore the world renowned coastline of the Outer Hebrides. We will try to visit as many of the islands as possible, but it will be very dependent on weather and how long we wish to stay at each place. White sand beaches and beautiful clean azure coloured surf will be the focus, often with mountainous backdrops, especially at the Isle of Harris. The sand dunes along this coast are hugely impressive and provide foregrounds on all of the Outer Hebridean Islands.

Our home for this Scotland photography tour - the Western Isles is the wonderful Seahorse II, a small vessel capable of reaching so many locations along the fabulous West Coast of Scotland. This is a one of a kind way to see and photograph the most photogenic locations of the Western Isles of Scotland. The sand dunes along this coast are hugely impressive and provide foregrounds on all of the Outer Hebridean Islands.

St Kilda is the big attraction of this journey. St Kilda - The UK's only UNESCO Dual World Heritage Site and National National Nature Reserve. Home to north west Europe's largest seabird colony including the UK's largest colony of Atlantic puffin, northern Fulmar and one of the World's largest Gannetaries. We will be photographing the wildlife with amazing opportunities to photograph Puffins and Gannets. The sheer volume of birds on the islands in June is an incredible sight.

The houses, the St Kilda museum, school and Church provide a fascinating insight into the way of life of the St Kildans prior to their evacuation in 1930. The remains of the village, the graves and 2nd World War gun are all open to view and photograph.

Returning from St Kilda we will capitalise on anything we may have missed on the way up and explore more of the Western Islands.

Please note, the weather needs to be fair to reach St Kilda and make landings especially on exposed coastline. We will use the best openings for St Kilda but there is a chance the weather won’t allow us to make the crossing. A reasonable degree of fitness is required to explore St Kilda on foot. Participants will need to be active and enjoy walking/hiking to achieve the best views and wildlife sightings.

Accommodation will be shared, we have our own private vessel providing us to the opportunity to dictate where we go to give us the best opportunities for landscape and wildlife photography.

PLEASE NOTE: WE ONLY HAVE ONE PLACE NOW AVAILABLE ON THIS TOUR AND DUE TO CABIN CONFIGURATIONS, IT NEEDS TO BE BOOKED BY A MALE.

    Schedule

For tours outside of the UK, we will select a recommended flight which will depart from a London airport to the destination. In most cases (unless stated otherwise), the tour leaders will greet you at the destination airport from this flight and return you to the airport at the end of the tour.

Please DO NOT book your flights until advised to do so by the office. Tours have to become viable before we select the recommended flight.

Once a tour has enough bookings to make it viable, you will receive an email to alert you that the recommended flights have been uploaded to your client area on the website.

You are welcome to make alternative travel arrangements. If doing so, please ensure you are at the destination airport for the arrival time of the recommended flight to ensure you can take the transfer to the hotel. Alternatively you can arrange your own transfers and meet the group at the hotel on the first night.
