Our Winter in Glencoe photography tour will take place in January 2023 with Mark McColl.
Beautiful. Dramatic. Moody. Glencoe is a real gem for landscape photography, and undoubtedly one of Scotland’s finest locations. In winter it comes into its own, with snow-capped mountains and possibly snow at ground level producing almost unlimited photographic opportunities. These conditions can at times lead to truly magical scenes. And spending a number of days in Glencoe gives us the opportunity to really explore the area in some depth.

In winter it comes into its own, with snow-capped mountains and possibly snow at ground level producing almost unlimited photographic opportunities. These conditions can at times lead to truly magical scenes. And spending a number of days in Glencoe gives us the opportunity to really explore the area in some depth.
During this tour, we will have time to explore some amazing locations, such as
• Rannoch Moor, with its various trees and islands on both Loch Ba and Lochan na h-Achlaise
• Buachaille Etive Mòr and the Three Sisters of Glencoe
• Glen Etive, with its waterfalls and lochans
• Loch Achtriochtan and its amazing reflections
• Loch Awe and Kilchurn Castle
• Castle Stalker
After sunset, or if the weather is poor, we can spend some time processing images to maximise their potential.
We will keep our itinerary completely open so that we can adapt to the prevailing weather whilst on our tour, with safety always our priority. Each morning Mark will give you an outline of the intended locations for that particular day, adapting this to suit the weather conditions to try to maximise shooting opportunities whilst staying safe. At this time of year the sunlight remains low, so shooting in soft warm light is possible all day.
Our base for this workshop will be the fabulous Kingshouse Hotel, situated directly across from Scotland’s most iconic mountain, and with the added bonus of wild highland deer wandering around the car park!

As always with Phil & Clive the tour was a lot of fun as well as photographically challenging. Even when the weather was at its worse they led us to locations where it was still possible to obtain interesting images. Always ready to assist, but never intrusive they yet again found the right balance to make me feel I was learning & improving but still enjoying the whole time.
Well organised trip, beautiful locations. Very knowledgeable and caring leaders.
Fantastically well organised photography holiday with first class tuition. Over the 4 days, the group was taken to the best locations given the rapidly changing winter weather conditions to optimise the photography opportunities. On arrival at each spot, general instructions were given and that was followed in turn with 1:1 instruction.
Excellent. Well organised. Great leaders. Good tuition. Excellent hotel
Fabulous leaders who went well beyond the norm to make sure every guest got the most from their photography tour
Excellent trip. Clive and Phil are great leaders and have very helpful nature. The evening image review sessions are well done and everyone learns a lot from seeing the images that others have taken. Kingshouse Hotel chosen for accommodation and evening meals was excellent. Loved all the meals I chose. Highly recommended.
This was my first trip led by Clive and Phil. I wish I had got to know them earlier. They made the trip fun as well as informative. Their knowledge of locations was excellent for whatever weather conditions were on offer. As the days were short and the evenings long at this time of year there was time for each of us to show 3 of our images taken each day. I learnt a huge amount from seeing the different styles of each of the participants. The Kings House Hotel made us very welcome.
Beautiful location with like minded and talented people and led by friendly and helpful tutors. Phil and Clive were very helpful and good company. Its a pity it was Clive's last tour.
Excellent photographic locations. Very well organised and knowledgeable tutors - as usual. We even had the much anticipated snow! Thoroughly enjoyable.
Excellent planning to accommodate changes in weather, good advice when needed and time to review in the evening
Clive and Phil were the best as usual!
Great opportunities to take photographs in stunning locations. Plenty of snow but rainy too. Great company of other participants and excellent and knowledgeable tour leaders who made the tour fun.
