Location: Laig Bay, Isle of Eigg, Inner Hebrides, Scotland.

"Laig Bay, on the Isle of Eigg, is a regular landing during our Light and Land tour to Knoydart. It is a stunning location with huge vistas across the sound to the neighbouring Isle of Rum and glorious details in the sand at your feet. (There are also some of the most dictinctive rock formations on the west coast of Scotland.)  It is almost impossible not to find something of photographic interest but the interplay of black and golden sand is one of the highlights. Endless images are possible, most being of delicate filigree patterns and long flowing organic shapes - which is why I particularly like this image as it is distinctive and unusual for the location. It has an overall strength and purpose as well as a structure into which you can read different interpretations. The classic patterns and flowing shapes are still present but they are limited and constrained within the darker spaces, suggesting another world that lies beneath the calm sandy surface".
