Light & Land
After an early career as a berry farmer, Niall has worked as a photographer, writer, designer and guide for 25 years. He has published half a dozen books on landscape, wildlife and photography and hundreds of articles in a wide variety of magazines. At the centre of some of the biggest initiatives in nature photography during that time, including the International League of Conservation Photographers, Wild Wonders of Europe, Meet Your Neighbours and 2020VISION, Niall has also served on the jury of several international photography competitions. With more than 60 tours and workshops, many led alongside his wife, Charlotte, he now delights in sharing the techniques he has learned and ideas he has developed over the years. Niall is a columnist for Outdoor Photography Magazine.
As a child, Charlotte lived all over the UK as her father, a nature reserve manager, moved to new posts. This time left her with a deep and abiding fascination with the natural world, and in particular, for the wildlife and landscapes of Scotland. For 28 years, Charlotte combined a career in the Civil Service with freelance catering and hosting roles before coming to work with husband, Niall. She retrained as a chocolatier and through her own brand, Carlotta’s Chocolates, has received several Great Taste Awards from the Guild of Fine Food. Guests value not only her expertise in the kitchen and dining room but her attention to detail and warmth. She has a keen eye for a picture too and is a dab hand when it comes to Lightroom processing.
