Niall Benvie

Niall Benvie has been a professional photographer, writer and designer for over three decades, and, with those years of experience under his belt, he takes great delight in sharing what he's learned with others, whether through workshops, talks, or collaborative projects. Over the years, he has written and published close to three-quarters of a million words in books and articles, mostly exploring the intersection between photography and our connection with the natural world. But it’s not just his output that impresses, it’s the way he thinks about visual storytelling.

The late editor of Outdoor Photography Magazine, Steve Watkins said of Niall’s work, “A serial collaborator who understands how working together can often create something larger than the individual parts, he brings the experience of being a core member of some of the biggest nature communication projects of the last decade, such as Wild Wonders of Europe, 2020Vision and Meet Your Neighbours, to his relentless search for effective ways to communicate ideas. And ultimately, in a market saturated with lovely photographs of pretty much everything on the planet, it is these ideas, his unique perspective on life that sets him and his work apart.”

Niall actively encourages other photographers to flag that their images were made with human, rather than artificial intelligence, “before everything that’s good is assumed to be artificial”.

He lives in rural Burgundy with his wife and creative partner, Charlotte. Together, they continue dreaming up new ideas and helping others push their own creative boundaries.
