Drone Photography Workshop - Dorset Coast Photography
This one day workshop is aimed at those wishing to experience Drone photography for the first time and those who may have had a go previously and want to expand their skills in Drone flying. The group will meet at Moonfleet Manor at 9.30am for a 9.45am start. The morning will be spent in the classroom with the Phantom Flight School, they will teach the group the following before heading out to the coast at 12.30pm:
- The theory of safe and effective drone flying including an introduction to the DJI Go 4 App and an explanation of how to use the remote controller.
- Discussion around the specification of the camera on each of the DJI range of drones.
- How to get the best drone images.
- Current and likely future drone legislation.
The group will then head to Chesil Beach for 4 hours of Drone flying. Chesil Beach is a pebble beach 18 miles long and stretches north-west from Portland to West Bay. For much of its length it is separated from the mainland by an area of saline water called the Fleet Lagoon, this will provide an ideal base for Drone flying for the afternoon.
The following Drones will be available to fly during the workshop:
DJI Mavic Air
DJI Mavic Pro
DJI Phantom 4 Pro
DJI Matrice 200
Andy Farrer will be leading this workshop along with the team from the Phantom Flight School. Andy is a professional photographer with over 20 years’ experience behind the camera and has more recently discovered a passion for Drone photography. He has regularly had his images used in publications and on magazine covers. Based in Swanage, Andy is inspired by the dramatic landscapes of the Isle of Purbeck where he grew up, the constantly changing seasons, skies and love of the outdoors.
Please bring a packed lunch along for this workshop!
Places on this workshop are limited to eight.
What we were taught in the morning session is not reiterated in any great depth in the pack we received. I wish I had taken a recorder. We did not fly for 4 hrs. Individual operational tuition was lacking, even though there were only four of us. The last 30mins with Andy was a complete waste of time. Definitely not worth the price of entry.
Great course with very experienced and knowledgeable instructors. Alan Proto was a mine of information on drones and flying, or not flying, and Andy Farrer was able to give us great insights in to the deeper aspects of drone photography we were all keen to hear more about.
An excellent introduction to drone flying and drone photography for anyone who has just acquired a drone or is thinking of it.
