The Lake District is undoubtedly one of the finest places to photograph in the UK, if not the world. Ideally located near to the town of Keswick, the Borrowdale Hotel serves as the perfect base to explore some of the different parts of the Lake District. This includes the areas around Derwent Water like Castlerigg Stone Circle, Bassenthwaite Lake and amazing views of the ever imposing Blencathra and Skiddaw mountains.

We will spend as much time in the field as possible photographing the varied landscapes the Lake District has to offer. Spending the time in the landscape allows us to forge a deeper connection to the environment. That feeling can then be used to craft a photograph that evokes an emotional response in the viewer.

The tour will not be strenuous but access to some of the lakeside locations is often via uneven and rocky ground and will include a small amount of walking.

The Lake District photography tour will be led by Charlie Waite and Adam Karnacz.

The Lake District Photography Tour - The Lake District Landscape Photography

The leaders will be your designated drivers during the tour for any travelling that is required.

Travel & Meeting on the First Day.

Our rooms will be ready from 3pm. The leaders will be there to meet you in the hotel lounge/bar at (30 mins after rooms ready) for a 'meet and greet' and then we will head out for a shoot until sunset, conditions permitting.

Daily Routine

There are opportunities for photography from dusk until dawn and we will look to maximise our use of the light.

For Dawn there is the option to be in position for sunrise, weather permitting, before returning to the hotel for breakfast. This is entirely optional. After breakfast we will head out again, with packed lunches, before returning in the evening for a well earned meal together.

The nature of the Lake District, the mountains and the weather means we will remain flexible and discuss plans for each day the evening before.

After dinner we will retire to the lounge/bar where we can sit together, post-process our images and share stories of the day. This will be completely informal and voluntary but is a good chance for critique and to brush up on your editing skills. It is a fun, safe and supportive environment in which to share your work and is a good way to consolidate learning and carry it into the next day.

We will also enjoy a critique session together. These are invaluable sessions and give the opportunity to see each others work and indulge in the art of photography. Bringing a selection of prints is an exciting way to show off your work but digital images on a laptop or tablet are also great.

Your tutors for this tour are Charlie Waite and Adam Karnacz. Both have a great knowledge of the Lake District!

Very well run, the leaders set a superb tone which helped the participants to get the best out of the trip.

Julia - 9th Nov, 2019

The venue, accommodation, food and above all the tuition and organisation by Clive and Phill was brilliant

David - 9th Nov, 2019

Superb tour leaders in Phil and Clive- knowledgable, helpful and sociable. Very happy to be part of the group. Clive especially entertaining... learnt a lot. The only slight issue raised by several in the group was the inability to see other members ( and tutors ) work, as to do that for twelve would take half a day. Perhaps a few too many bookings were taken? A thoroughly enjoyable and useful week. Hotel was excellent, food much better than expected
