Our Jordan photography tour 'Land of the Ancient World' will take place in January 2024 with tour leader Charlie Waite.

This remarkably small and diverse country will provide us with multiple opportunities to explore its rugged beauty, dramatic landscapes and breathtakingly impressive ancient ruins. During the tour, we will visit and photograph one of the best-preserved ancient Roman cities - Jerash, with its ruins set in a stunningly dramatic landscape on a plain surrounded by hilly woodland.

Charlie Waite Exclusive Special Offer: Book your place by 1 May 2023 and get a complimentary 1-hour portfolio review session with Charlie Waite after the tour as well as a print of your favourite image from the tour. *

Jordan Photography Tour - Land of the Ancient World
The Jordanian capital Amman, originally built on seven hills, is our first stop. Its cosmopolitan side contrasts against the ancient citadel, which is situated in the old city centre on a hillside and overlooks this impressive city.

One of the highlights of our tour will be making images of the desert of Wadi Rum with its lunar-like landscape made of monolithic outcrops of granite and sandstone rocks. For many, Wadi Rum will bring memories of the great David Lean film 'Lawrence of Arabia'. Wadi Rum will present us with a multitude of photographic opportunities and will not disappoint.

We will visit the infamous rose red city of Petra, where we will have ample time to explore and make images of this magnificent location that changes colour as the day goes by, its multitude of tombs carved into the multi-coloured rock face and the dramatic mountainous scenery surrounding the site. Nothing can prepare you for the ‘full on’ Petra experience, the Nabatean jewel of Jordan, rightly now regarded as a ‘wonder of the world’.

After Petra, we will descend via the Wadi Araba desert to 400 metres below sea level to the Dead Sea with its incredible salt encrustations, and hopefully have time for a float in this remarkable sea.
