New Forest Photography Workshop - Autumn Colours in the New Forest

The New Forest in Autumn offers photographers a stunning palette of colours and textures. This one-day workshop is designed to help you capture the glorious woodland scenes and make strong compositions in a busy visual environment.

Both Sam and Andy live within a short distance of the New Forest and will be on hand to help in the field with composition, interpretation and new techniques. We will spend the day outside exploring across 2-3 locations, allowing plenty of time for expert advice and assistance for all attendees.

We will be based in the central & northern areas of the New Forest National Park. This area has an abundant variety of trees and looks resplendent in its autumnal colours. The New Forest is believed to have the highest concentration of ancient trees in Western Europe. Species in the Forest include oak, beech, yew, holly, birch and more. We will make sure we can take our time and really focus on composition and capturing the splendour of the autumn colours and textures. Whatever the prevailing conditions, there are fantastic images to be made.

Finding order in chaotic visual locations is a skill that needs refining and practicing. Both Sam & Andy will seek to help you find your own creative voice in these scenes; from balancing elements within the compositions, discussing colours, and any technical queries or exploring different interpretations. The New Forest in Autumn offers a broad and magnificent array of shooting possibilities for all levels of photogapher.

Very good tutors and lovely locations.

Unfortunately the workshop had a delayed start due to poor weather during sunrise. Some good tips were provided by the instructors, but the choice of locations was limited with an emphasis on photographing trees over vistas.

Ms Alicia Dunlop - 14th Nov, 2021

What a wonderful photography workshop this was. Great tuition delivered with great enthusiasm. The guidance shared was thought provoking & having the opportunity to think / view things in a different way was wonderful. We were a friendly & eclectic bunch. I came away from the workshop with a new found respect for woodland photography - big thanks to Sam & Andy for being great tutors.
