For 2021 we have combined the popular New York City photography tour with our hugely successful black and white workshops. Paul Sanders and Adrian Beasley will guide you through this incredible city with the emphasis on visualising, seeing and producing incredible black and white images. There will be image review sessions and processing sessions led by Adrian. Paul will lead you to the highlights of the city that will not fail to inspire you.

New York in January is an interesting place - fewer tourists mean better access to places and the streets are filled with locals bundled up against the weather which can range from heavy snow to biting winds and glorious sunshine. The steam rises from the vents in the road and billows across the sidewalks, the low sun illuminates the architecture beautifully, the clear cold air means the views across the Hudson to Manhattan are stunning - winter in the big apple is a photographers paradise.

New York Photography Tour - New York Travel Photography Holiday

Our base for the tour will be The Evelyn Hotel, situated just off Fifth Avenue between the FlatIron building and the Empire State Building, we have easy access to the subways too.

Everyone connects with New York City in a different way, the experience of being there is unique to each visitor so we will visit a wide variety of locations that will cover landscape, architecture, urban, and possibly even street photography - New Yorkers are known for their extravagance, so make naturally good subjects.

By the end of this tour not only will you have an intimate insight to the famous streets of this incredible city but your understanding of shooting and processing black and white images to reflect how you feel about a location will be second to none.

Paul and Adrian have co-led several trips focussing on the art of black and white photography, they have a very easy working relationship and relaxed style of teaching, supporting and inspiring clients.

The tour is marked as strenuous as we may cover hundreds of steps per day exploring the city. A good level of fitness with walking is required.

This was a great trip. Paul worked very hard to ensure everything went smoothly, which it did. This was even more impressive considering how unwell he was and how cheerful he remained.

Anne - 12th Jan, 2020

Excellent photographic opportunities, saw all the famous landmarks. Paul was very knowledgable and he guided us with care and looked after us well

Alan - 9th Jan, 2020

Paul was an excellent, very friendly, helpful tour leader who went the extra mile to research locations, purchase tickets and to assist with any problems. The hotel was comfortable and perfectly located for transport to the various locations we visited. The choice of locations to photograph was varied and stimulating and provided sufficient interest to ensure that we were never bored. Paul also took us to some delightful restaurants.

For tours outside of the UK, we will select a recommended flight which will depart from a London airport to the destination. In most cases (unless stated otherwise), the tour leaders will greet you at the destination airport from this flight and return you to the airport at the end of the tour.

Please DO NOT book your flights until advised to do so by the office. Tours have to become viable before we select the recommended flight.

Once a tour has enough bookings to make it viable, you will receive an email to alert you that the recommended flights have been uploaded to your client area on the website.

You are welcome to make alternative travel arrangements. If doing so, please ensure you are at the destination airport for the arrival time of the recommended flight to ensure you can take the transfer to the hotel. Alternatively you can arrange your own transfers and meet the group at the hotel on the first night.
