Spotlight on… Peter Hendrie

21st April 2017

Would you like to get to know our Professional photographers better? Our new weekly feature will do just that ...

This week the Spotlight is on Peter Hendrie!

✭ How long have you worked for L&L?

"Eleven Years as a leader, although my first tour was as a client with Charlie Waite in May 1999 to Andalucia. It's funny how things turn around as l now lead this tour to Andalucia every February."

✭ When did you discover photography?

"I was always interested in photography from a early age, but things evolved immensely when l moved to Exford in the heart of Exmoor National Park from Ilfracombe in 1988. An area l really call my home and where l lead several tours."

✭ Which camera do you use?

"I've always used Canon and Fuji cameras throughout my career, but it was a Canon AE-1 which gave me my breakthrough"

✭ Favourite place you’ve visited?

"Where does one begin, such a difficult question to give a definitive answer too. I've been very fortunate to go to some of the most amazing locations in the world, but if l had to choose one (actually l'm going to choose two) then it has to be Exmoor & Iceland."

✭ What’s your favourite image of yours?

""Exercising the Hounds", not only my best selling image, but also the story behind this image has a special meaning along with it also being the turning point in the pursuit of my photographic career."

✭ What’s your favourite food?

"Again a very difficult question as l love my food. I get withdrawal symptoms if l miss out on my Sunday Carvery with lashings of freshly cooked vegetables, (I suppose running my own Hotel has its advantages) but Beef Stew with Dumplings has to come very close to the top of that list."

✭ Finally, if you could be any animal what would it be?

"A Bird, why you might ask! I love heights (l must of been a bird in my last life) and as a photographer it's a perspective that l try to portray in my photography where applicable."
