Light & Land

Clive Minnitt Clive Minnitt

Clive Minnitt is a freelance photographer who lives in Devon. Clive has been involved with Light & Land since January 1997 when he attended one of the earliest workshops, held in Venice, led by co-founders Charlie Waite and Sue Bishop.

In 2002 Clive teamed up with his great friend and other half of a what has become a successful double-act, Phil Malpas, to lead their first Light & Land photographic workshop, an inaugural tour of Barcelona and the Pyrenees.

Exciting destinations followed including Vermont & Maine, Cuba, Bhutan, Myanmar and more recently Vietnam, as well as hugely photogenic locations in Europe – Slovenia, Tuscany, Umbria, Venice, Scotland and Sark.

The forthcoming Tuscany 2018 tour will be Clive’s 90th for Light & Land and his enthusiasm and dedication remains as strong as ever. He recently commented:

"Being a photographer is not like a job, it is an extremely enjoyable way of life. To have played a small part in leading Light & Land tours for many years is both an honour and a privilege".

Photography became Clive’s passion following a two and a half year back-packing adventure around the world during the late 1980’s. His love of the outdoors coupled with a never-ending desire to travel and record his experiences make him ideally suited to leading photographic tours.

In 2008, Clive self-published his first book, Clevedon Pier – a celebration of England’s finest pier. The book was critically well-acclaimed and led to a second, commissioned publication entitled Finding the Picture, co-written with Phil Malpas and published in the autumn of 2009. This successful book is the third to be produced in the Light & Land master class series, following Working with Light and Developing Vision & Style, and is an important aide to photographers of all levels who occasionally suffer from ‘photographer’s block‘.

Clive currently uses two Fuji X-T2 cameras and a range of fuji lenses. Both Fuji and Panasonic have used Clive’s images to advertise their own products.
