The Colorado Rocky Mountains are as spectacular as any mountain scenery in North America. Coupled with Aspens in full autumn glory the possibilities are truly endless.

Colorado Photography Tour - Colorado in Fall Landscape Photography
Over the ten days of our tour we will explore much of this region and will use three areas as our base whilst we do so.

Beginning in the Aspen area there are too many locations we can visit to list them here. Maroon Bells is the most iconic, but there is so much more in this small area of Colorado. We will be exploring groves of trees around Independence Pass, Maroon Creek and Castle Creek road. All of these will give us opportunities to photograph aspens but also the bigger surrounding landscapes and mountains as well. This scenery can be photographed over beautiful alpine lakes with reflections of mountains and fall colours. With any luck the mountains will be white from the first snow of the season.

Leaving Aspen we will spend a day heading over Mcclure Pass as we make our way towards our second accommodation in the Crested Butte region. From Crested Butte we will spend a couple of days of further exploration, concentrating mostly on the Kebbler Pass area. Kebbler pass is a high altitude gravel mountain pass around 35 miles long. The entire road offers epic views over incredible landscapes. From working on smaller intimate landscapes to some truly impressive large views, this road and region has it all.

Our final destination for the tour will be the San Juan Mountains from Telluride through to Ouray and Ridgeway. Once again there are just too many locations to list. We will explore Last Dollar road, Owl Creek Pass, Dallas Divide and many other county roads with hidden locations away from anyone else.

The whole of this tour offers us variations in terms of altitude so it should always be possible to get up or down into the very best fall colours we can find. It is highly likely we will get snow at times which always offers a nice contrast to the varying shades of autumn.

Photography will be the priority of the entire trip. We will aim to get back and eat in restaurants whenever possible. One or two of these locations will be relatively remote and will mean it won’t be possible to get back to a restaurant in time before they close for the evening. We will discuss this as a group and be prepared to eat alternatively.

There will be some walking at altitude so each participant will need to be relatively fit although this will not be an overly strenuous tour. Full tour notes will be issued to each participant a couple of months before the tour commences.
