Our Sri Lanka photography tour 'Pearl of the Indian Ocean' will take place in March/April 2026 with tour leader Mehmet Ozbalci.
Sri Lanka is the land of South Asia’s most intriguing religious and cultural attractions, featuring elaborate art and architecture with friendly people belonging to different religions, and incredible wildlife (Sri Lanka has the most varied biodiversity in all of Asia).
Its impressive landscapes host lush tropical forests, beautiful lakes and magnificent mountain ranges. It’s not only the island’s scenic beauty that is so enchanting, there are ancient ruins and religious shrines (Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim temples), national parks and wildlife sanctuaries, charming traditional buildings, a pastoral way of life contrasting with the hubbub of the towns and cities, tranquil beaches and a salubrious climate. It is a lush, fertile island of many cultures with a history of diversity now blended into a nation in harmony making it a perfect destination retreat for people from around the world, yet it remains largely unknown by the typical tourist.

Sri Lanka Photography Tour - Pearl of the Indian Ocean
Sri Lanka is a fascinating country with a great variety for photography. Historical sites, fishermen on stilts, wildlife, tea plantations, scenic landscapes, markets, Buddhist, Hindu and Muslim temples, local people in neighborhoods and markets, a cultural show with dancers in national costumes are some of the highlights of this this well designed photo tour, offering possibilities to capture iconic images.
Ancient sites such as Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa and Dambulla, once they were home to ancient kingdoms and they still retain many relics and artifacts from ancient times. The famous rock fortress of Sigiriya and the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic of Kandy are only two of many must-photograph places.
Wildlife ranging from wild elephants and leopards to a vast variety of birds. Yala National Park is known to have the highest density of leopards (Panthera Pardus Kotiya) in the world. We will have 4 game drives in 3 National Parks, with 2 game drives in Yala National Park, all in four-wheel drives with 4 participants in every jeep.
Stilt fishing is a traditional method of fishing in Sri Lanka and it is an iconic subject matter to photograph. We will photograph fishermen on stilts at sunset and at sunrise.
