Our London photography workshop 'When Night Falls' will take place in December with Astrid McGechan.

London provides photographers with endless opportunities to capture the hustle and bustle of street life, architecture, grand views and unique, unrepeatable little moments in the life of its people. The city never sleeps, and when the day fades away and the lights come on, a whole new world appears – and it brings with it new and exciting opportunities to make interesting photographs.

When Night Falls - A London Photography Workshop

When Night Falls - A London Photography Workshop
During our workshop, we will explore how London changes when night falls. We will photograph iconic views across the river at dusk, and will discover how the appearance of some of the city’s most recognisable buildings is transformed when they are lit by artificial light.

Our route, which leads along the southside of the Thames, will provide us with a plethora of subjects. Photographing at lower light levels does not necessarily require shooting with the camera on a tripod, although that will come in handy, on occasion. We will explore ways to utilise the available light to produce images which capture the character of London at night.

London at Night Photography Workshop

Your guide for the evening will be Astrid, who has spent many years photographing in London using a range of techniques. She will be at hand throughout to help and guide you, whether you are looking for a first introduction or want to delve deeper into low-light photography in the city.

We will grab some refreshments before we start and there are more opportunities again along the way on the Southbank. Our group will meet at the Tate Modern at 3:30pm, and the workshop will finish around 9pm near Waterloo Station.
