Our Provence and Camargue photography tour 'In the Footsteps of van Gogh' will take place in September 2026 and will be led by Charlotte Bellamy.
The Camargue, located along the French coast between Montpellier and Marseille, is renowned for its salt marshes, white horses, and pink flamingos. This tour offers a fantastic chance to capture these incredible creatures, along with the famous pink salt flats of the region.
Provence is most celebrated for its lavender fields, but visiting during the cooler months, away from peak tourist season, allows you to discover the rich artistic history of this stunning area, where Vincent van Gogh spent his final years creating remarkable works of art.

Provence and Camargue Photography Tour - In the Footsteps of van Gogh
Photographers will find endless inspiration during this tour, with numerous photographic opportunities to explore. Art enthusiasts will love our visits to many of the iconic settings featured in Van Gogh's paintings. Your tutor Charlotte loves exploring creative possibilities with her photography and will encourage you to experiment with these, enabling you to recreate some of his masterpieces with your own interpretation.
A highlight of the tour will be the opportunity to photograph the beautiful Camargue horses running free on the beach at sunset. For some, this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. Never photographed horses before? That is not a problem. To ensure you get the most from this experience, Charlotte, who is an experienced equestrian photographer, will guide you through your camera settings and compositional possibilities before and during the experience.
Both Arles and Saint-Rémy-de-Provence boast charming old-world French architecture, while the surrounding landscapes will further ignite your creativity. Additionally, we will visit Roussillon, famous for its ochre pigment that was mined and exported globally in the 18th century. Recognised as one of France’s most beautiful villages, we will explore both the rugged quarries and the village itself.
To complete the tour, we will visit some of the picturesque villages and landscapes around Roussillon.
This is a tour of varied photographic opportunities, from wild horses and birds to unique landscapes, enchanting villages, iconic masterpiece locations, and modern architecture. During this 8-day tour we will base ourselves at three different locations. Early mornings and late evenings will be essential to capture the beauty of sunrise and sunset in the Camargue. Join Charlotte on what promises to be a photographic feast, and she will ensure you return home with photographs to cherish!
This tour is limited to 6 places.
