Our photography tour to Malta will take place in October 2026 and will be led by Peter Fenech.
The Maltese Archipelago sits at the boundary between Europe and Africa. Its cultural heritage has created a fascinating blend of Mediterranean and Arabic themes that permeate the language, food, and architecture. A jewel in the Southern Mediterranean Sea, Malta offers photographers an endless source of inspiration for street, landscape, and abstract imaging, from the ancient streets of Valletta and Mdina to the colourful fishing village of Marsaxlokk. Since the islands lie on the African-Eurasian flyway, it’s also a top spot for photographing migratory birds.

Malta Photography Tour - Mediterranean Moods
You’ll be in good company on this tour, as Malta is a magnet for filmmakers. The island has been a Hollywood movie hotspot for decades, appearing in a long list of blockbusters, from Gladiator I and II, to Midnight Express and Jurassic World. Standing on the walls of the Silent City of Mdina, gazing out from the Upper Barrakka Gardens, or exploring the dramatic harbours of Senglea and the Three Cities, it’s easy to see why Malta’s scenery has been cast in so many epic productions.
Peter calls Malta his second home, thanks to his Maltese lineage, and he knows the most photogenic places to capture its landscapes, architecture, fishing villages, and timeless harbours. We’ll wander Valletta’s limestone alleys, discover the grand Basilica Rotunda in Mosta, visit the prehistoric Għar Dalam caves, and take the ferry to Gozo for sweeping Mediterranean views from the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes. There will be opportunities to explore the bustling markets, watch the luzzu and dgħajsa boats bobbing in the harbours, and photograph golden coastlines bathed in warm light.
And we can’t forget to mention the food! From waterfront cafés in Marsaxlokk to quiet trattorias tucked into the streets of Gozo, Malta serves up an irresistible blend of flavours drawn from its cultural crossroads. We’ll enjoy plenty of opportunities to sample the island’s culinary delights throughout the trip—the only challenge will be resisting the temptation to have dessert first!
