Our Turkey photography tour 'Where East Meets West' will take place in September 2026 with Mehmet Ozbalci. Turkey is a mix of East and West, with ancient cultures existing next to modern. Many different civilisations have flourished within Turkey’s present day borders, making the country a fantastic place to explore what these civilisations left behind in the form of architecture and culture. It is a photographer's 'Turkish Delight', with its historical sites, friendly people, curious geological formations and stunning ancient architecture. It is also a fascinating study in contrasts, a bridge between Europe and Asia, the end of the ancient Silk Road and home of legends & history taught in schools the world over.
Join Mehmet and explore where East Meets West - from Istanbul to Cappadocia, from Mt Nemrut to Ephesus, and you will return with images to treasure a lifetime!

Turkey Photography Tour - Where East meets West
Turkey - a paradise for photographers - it’s natural beauty and abundance of historic treasures give the photographer plenty of possibilities to make beautiful and dramatic images. With its rich history, natural wonders and vibrant cultures, you can’t fail to be inspired.
Travelling from one end of Turkey to the other, our tour will cover stunning well known, plus off the beaten track locations. We will also enjoy the local customs and cultures that have evolved in Turkey and will have opportunities to photograph people in their daily routines as well as their special events.
There will be many highlights during our photography tour: the oriental skyline of exotic Istanbul, captured from the soft morning light of the blue hour to sunset silhouettes. Hagia Sophia, built as a Cathedral in the 6th century and now a mosque, a masterpiece of Roman engineering. A 'Whirling Dervishes' performance, eerie underground cisterns, fascinating fairy chimney-like stacks, rock formations and the extreme terrain in Cappadocia. Pamukkale, which offers the most unusual formations of calcium deposit terraces. Ephesus, the best-preserved Roman city in the world. A trip to one of the most colourful and interesting markets in Turkey in an 'off the beaten track' town and a visit to the fabled Mount Nemrut to photograph the impressive colossal ancient statues at sunrise plus much, much more!
You will visit the perfect locations at optimal times, capturing unique sites that your tutor Mehmet has uncovered over the years to create memorable photographs.
You will explore Turkey with expert guidance, staying in thoughtfully chosen accommodations, savouring exquisite cuisine, and being driven by a knowledgeable driver who will be happy to pause whenever we encounter something intriguing to photograph on our journey.
