Our Impressions of Holland photography tour will take place in April and May 2024 with Charlotte Bellamy.

Holland - just a short flight or train across the channel, but a world away from being in the UK. Most people know Holland for its tulips, cheese and windmills, and of course this photo tour will abound with all of these, but there is so much more to experience in this country which makes it a wonderful photographic destination. Led by Charlotte, who has lived in Holland for 11 years, you are guaranteed a treat as she guides you to her favourite ‘off the tourist route’ locations for a diverse range of photo opportunities. Whether you are looking to enjoy traditional landscape and flower photography or develop your creative photography skills, Charlotte will encourage and assist you during the tour.

Impressions of Holland - Landscape Photography Tour
Included in the tour is of course the chance to explore Amsterdam (twice). Once by night and once by day – each visit offering completely different photographic opportunities. At night, as the light fades, the twinkling lights shape the bridges, maybe a sunset and blue hour as we position ourselves in a super location where canals cross each other – how many bridges you can get in one image will be your challenge! By day we will explore the beautiful Jordan area with wonderful reflections, unique architecture and wonderful ambience.

In contrast to Amsterdam, you will also enjoy a day out in the rural villages of Edam and De Rijp, as well as the Beemster Polder. These villages are wonderful to explore, and, in complete contrast to the bustle of Amsterdam, you will feel the speed of life slow down. Out in the polders, there will also be opportunities to photograph windmills in wide open landscapes. Depending on locations that the tulips are planted, this is also the location where it may be possible to photograph (without the need of photoshop) tulips and windmills into the same location. But this is not guaranteed, it’s a bonus!

We will have a full day devoted to exploring the tulip fields North West of Amsterdam. Charlotte has been visiting this area for 10 years, and will know just where all the tulips are to find. It’s a bit like a tulip treasure hunt – you may even play tulip colour bingo! The variety is massive in colour and shape. Being in a small group will ensure you also get to make the call to stop if something catches your eye. Daffodils and possibly late blooming hyacinths will add to the overall experience for your senses.

A trip to Holland would not be complete without visiting the world famous Keukenhof gardens. Whilst many think this is what tulips in Holland are all about, you will be in the unique position to have experienced the bulb fields. Now you will notice how natural and open the fields were compared to the beautiful almost art like plantings of colour and design. We stay close to the gardens to ensure entry as the gardens open at 8am – and to give you a couple of hours before the tour busses arrive to enjoy the location. As it becomes busier there will be opportunities to concentrate on photographing individual blooms, colours, patterns and macro.
